The extension menu spoils people with the number of selections, there are Rice Bowls, Salads, Pastas, Burgers, Desserts, etc. All the dishes have their own creative twist, two of their signatures in the Pasta area is their Mala Mushroom Pasta, which is inspired by the Chinese Mala Xiang Guo; and the Basil Pork Pasta, which is inspired by Basil Pork Rice that you find at Thai Restaurants. Who would have thought to combine these Asian elements into a form of Pasta!

Fatburger

Fatburger originated from Los Angeles and recently just opened their first branch in Singapore. Here at Fatburger, they are particular with the ingredients that they use. Instead of frozen patties, Fatburger is committed to using only chilled patties, their hamburgers were far more superior in taste and texture in comparison to burgers served at regular fast-food joints.

Texture is an important aspect when it comes to making an ideal burger. Fatburgers use brioche buns and are pillowy soft, toasted with butter made it slightly crispy on the outside and soft inside. Beef patties are succulent, coarsely minced and not too thick, resulting in an even and juicy center.

There is a wide variety of sides for you to choose from: Fat Fries, Skinny Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, Chili Cheese Fries, and Onion Rings. Their onion rings are made fresh daily, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.

They are famous for the pastel blue soft serve, which is sea salt flavored. You might think that sea salt is a weird flavor, but the sweetness of the ice cream pairs well with the savory sea salt, giving it a unique flavor. No wonder, this is their signature and the only constant ice cream flavor. Fun fact: The ‘S’ in Aqua S refers to Sea Salt.

Just like their outlet in Sydney, Singapore’s Aqua S will offer flavors that they change every so often. Their soft serve flavors will rotate on the 1st and 16th of every month, so you may look forward to something new and exciting every fortnight! Trishaw Laksa

Famous Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa located at Hong Lim, is awarded Michelin “Bib Gourmand” award for 3 consecutive years. 18 years ago, Chef/ Owner - Daniel Soo (he is now in his sixties) opened this hawker stall and they are famous for their unique, one of a kind laksa and mee siam; both are their most popular dishes among the customers.

You might be wondering, how different are their laksa and mee siam? Just take a look at the ingredients - The Asia Delight Laksa, looks amazingly mouth watering. Ingredients are generous, it even has a whole crayfish inside! The laksa broth is simmered with dried scallops and oysters to increase the umami of the broth; the coconut milk added inside is not too overpowering but just enough to thicken and make the broth creamier. The sambal adds a punch of spiciness and overall, it’s a great bowl of laksa!

The other best seller would be - Fruit Juice Mee Siam. When you think of mee siam, you normally think of the spicy deliciousness cooked from a Malay stall. However, the way Mr. Soo cooks his Mee Siam is different from others. Instead of using Assam (what malay cuisine will typically use for the sourness of the dish) he used fruit juice. Again, the ingredients are extremely generous, you can see the whole crayfish, shredded chicken, prawns and a hard boiled egg. The taste of this mee siam, is amazing and the fruit juice gave the dish a natural taste of sweet and sour. The combination is really interesting and you can’t stop eating!

He describes his foods as a fusion of Asian and Western cuisine. For example, the signature Slow Cooked Beef Cheek - marinated in Chinese Hua Diao wine, and slowly braised for 8 hours! The amount of time and effort is definitely worth it, the meat is extremely tender and juicy, together with the special hua diao wine sauce, it’s so incredibly delicious! Next up, is the Unagi Donburi, certainly did not expect to see any Japanese cuisine here. But, the Unagi was so tender and has a decently delightful sweet coating. It even comes with an onsen egg making the whole dish creamy and mouth-watering.

The special part about the cafe is definitely the seating arrangement; usually, we would see tables where people can sit opposite of one another, but here at Homeground, you sit side by side and get the opportunity to socialize with strangers.

                                                               Malacca Chicken Rice Balls

Heard of Malacca Chicken Rice Balls? Do you know you can find them in Singapore? Yes, in SINGAPORE! Hainanese Chicken Rice Ball is in Shin Boon Hwa Food Centre, which is tucked at a corner along Dickson Road, opposite Sim Lim Tower.

They sell traditional chicken rice balls which is very hard to find in the Singapore’s hawker scene, it is definitely a must-go for the experience! You can order a set that comes with 2 rice balls, steamed chicken, braised pork belly and tau pok (tofu puffs) soup.

These chicken rice balls have a very different texture as compared to the usual chicken rice, they are bouncy and have a stickier consistency with hint of ginger and garlic taste. The soup is different from the usual clear soups that chicken rice stalls offer, the soup here is dark and has a hint of pepper and herbal taste, it is very flavourful. The chicken here only comes in the Hainanese Steam Chicken that has dark soy sauce drizzled all over, they also offer braised pork belly that is braised in chicken stock, it is very flavourful and addictive.
